GEJ's January 1 Subsidy Protest: DPO Who Killed Protester In Lagos Gets 10yrs In Jail

The dismissed DPO attached to Pen Cinema Police Station in Agege, Lagos, Mr. Segun Fabunmi has been sentenced to jail. Fabunmi, who resides at 12 Oyewole Street, Ogudu, Lagos, was arraigned on May 5, 2013 by the Lagos State government on a seven-count charge bordering on murder, attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm.

At the time of the incident, he was the DPO of Pen Cinema Police Station.
The convict had led seven other police officers to Yaya-Abatan area of Ogba after he received a distress call that hoodlums at Yaya-Abatan Junction, Ogba, were breaking people’s windscreens and holding innocent people hostage in the guise of protest.
The judge however finds him guilty of the charges and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment.
