President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday evening met behind closed-doors with some members of the House of Representatives who are loyal to the APC and insisting that the party be respected.
The lawmakers were led to the meeting held inside the Conference Hall of the First Lady’s Office inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja by Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
He led 29 other lawmakers loyal to the party to the meeting which started at about 9.55pm with the arrival of President Buhari and the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Those who attended were drawn from all the six geo-political zones. The lawmakers were convened to the venue in two white Coaster buses.
Senator Abu Ibrahim from Katsina who apparently brokered the meeting was introducing Gbajabiamila and his group to the President when journalists were asked to excuse them.
The meeting was part of efforts aimed at resolving the leadership battle that is rocking the two chambers of the National Assembly.
Gbajabiamila was the APC choice for the post of the Speaker before Yakubu Dogara was elected.
