Bola Tinubu Speaks on Buhari's Style of Governance So Far

President Muhammadu Buhari last night implored members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to forgo their differences as well as their power of influence in the interest of the country and the party.
He said for the party to achieve its manifestos of addressing issues of security, economy, employment and corruption, such sacrifice was necessary.
The president, who made this call when he hosted the party’s leadership to a Ramadan breakfast at the new banquet hall of the presidential villa, restated his stance that “if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria.”

Also, APC national leader and former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, who was at the breakfast, responded to criticisms targeted at the leadership style of Buhari.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had said the Buhari administration was too slow. But Tinubu said the APC government cannot clean the 16-year mess of the PDP in 30 days.

Tinubu who described the APC as Armoured Personnel Carrier which represents the diversity of Nigeria, thanked the President for availing them the opportunity of breaking fast with him and bringing together people from various backgrounds, regardless of religious affiliations.

He said, “We believe this diversity will continue to propel us for economic growth under your leadership. This is the first Ramadan after the election; we thank God for cutting down the opponents’ 60 years of fake promises to 16 years.
“I heard they say we are slow. Yes, we didn’t campaign to be fire-fighters, but planners – and meticulous ones at that. A latrine pit of 16 years can’t be cleaned up in 30 days because the mess is much."
NASS Leadership Crisis: I Stand By Buhari’s Position – Tinubu
Speaking to journalists after the break of Ramadan fast at the presidential villa, the APC national leader said he stood by President Buhari’s position that the party’s wish is supreme concerning the leadership crisis in the National Assembly.

He noted that the crisis rocking the National Assembly over its leadership was one area where he was very cautious of his position and utterances.

“I still want to keep my side of the interpretation or analysis to be able to achieve a resolution of the matter as quickly as possible,” he said.
